YOGYAKARTA - Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari's badminton player stopped his steps in the round of 16 of the 2024 BNI Badminton Asia Junior Championships tournament. She had to admit the single advantage of China's daughter, Yin Yi Qing.

Competing at GOR Amonggrogo, Yogyakarta, Friday, June 5, 2024, Mutiara lost two straight games 21-23, 11-21. Even in the second game, Mutiara, who is the defending champion, has no resistance against Yin.

In this match, Mutiara admitted that she could not bring out the form of her best game. After balancing the opponent in the first game, the badminton player's game from Ngawi decreased so he had to admit the opponent within 41 minutes.

"My best shot didn't come out in this game. My opponent played very well by relying on his speed. I actually made a lot of mistakes myself. It must be admitted, I played under pressure from the opponent," said Mutiara.

Mutiara herself admitted that she was not satisfied with the achievement in the BNI Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2024 tournament. Especially in the 2023 edition, Mutiara won the title by defeating the South Korean representative, Kim Min Ji in the final with a score of 21-11, 21-17.

"I feel dissatisfied with the results in this tournament. I have prepared optimally for this tournament and got disappointing results. This achievement made me disappointed," said Mutiara.

After being eliminated in the early rounds of Badminton Asia Junior Championships, the world's 149-ranked women's singles are determined to rise. She hopes her performance can return to consistency after several previous tournaments are not optimal.

"In the future, to be able to compete again at the highest level, I have to increase training, especially at the speed of foot. After experiencing problems at the Slovenia Open 2024, now my condition has recovered and all of them are ready to appear at the BNI Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2024," he said.

With Mutiara's defeat, there were no Indonesian women's singles representatives at the 2024 BNI Badminton Asia Junior Championships. Other players who have been eliminated are Saucean Dwi Ramadhani, Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi, Kavitha Nadjwa Aulia, Shandy Tirani Mahesi, Evelin Gracia Parapat, and Desmoelya Rizky Hardianti.

Meanwhile, from the men's singles sector, Hendry Leander also stopped in the last 16 after giving up from the Chinese men's singles, Hu Zhe An. The player who was born on February 27, 2006, gave up with a score of 14-21, 9-21.

The Kendari badminton player admitted that he could not get out of the pressure of the defending champion of the tournament.

"The opponent played very tough throughout the match. I found it difficult to get out of the opponent's pressure and had to admit his superiority," said Hendry.
