Regarding Strict Security At The Indonesian National Team Hotel, Shin Tae-yong: I Asked For It

Shin Tae-yong wants security for Indonesian national team players to be tightened (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, admitted that the tight security at the hotel where the players were staying was the right request. He called it one of the facilities requested directly to PSSI.

Shin Tae-yong's reason is quite clear. He said the players were a bit disturbed when the guard was too loose.

Therefore, for the safety of the players ahead of appearing in the 2026 World Cup Qualification in June 2024, the South Korean coach also asked for stricter security facilities.

"I did ask PSSI for this (strict hotel escort)," said Shin Tae-yong in a statement received after leading the exercise in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

"Especially when we go to training, sometimes the players' hotels feel disturbed to rest," said the coach.

Before the guard was tightened, the players often received direct visits from fans. Not infrequently, fans are even willing to wait for a long time and group in front of the hotel where the players stay.

The interaction, which was too intense, was even suspected to be one of the reasons why the Indonesian national team had contracted the virus.

After winning 1-0 at home, several players were sick so they missed and played less than optimally when they went to Hanoi, March 26, 2024. This situation was anticipated by Shin Tae-yong.

Despite his decision, the South Korean coach still appreciated the fans' efforts. However, he will also be more optimal in maintaining the condition of his foster children.

"Indeed, we have to thank fans, but it is difficult for players to rest. So, I asked and so (the player's condition) is fine," he said.
