JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Divre I North Sumatra conducted random drug tests on a number of train facilities (ASP) crews in order to provide maximum service and comfort to passengers.

Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Divre I North Sumatra Anwar Solikhin in Medan, Wednesday, said that a total of 40 ASP Divre I North Sumatra were tested for drugs.

Especially at Medan Station, the inspection was carried out at the Medan Station VIP Room which was attended by 18 officers consisting of the driver, assistant driver, conductor, technician, Polsuska, and other operational officers.

Apart from Medan Station, drug tests were also carried out at several stations in the North Sumatra Divre I area, such as Belawan Station, Binjai, Tebing Tinggi, Siantar, Kisaran, and Rantauprapat.

"Through this drug test, KAI wants to ensure that ASP officers who are serving are really in good health and are not affected by the misuse of narcotics and illegal drugs so that they can serve passengers in prime condition," said Anwar.

This drug test that was held was carried out outside of routine examinations of ASP officers when they were about to carry out the service.

According to him, if there are officers who test positive, a more in-depth examination will be carried out and will be replaced by other officers.

In this drug test, there are six parameters used in urine test kits to determine the content of Amphetamine (AMP), Morphine/Opiate (MOP), Mariyuana (THC), Cocaine (COC), Methamphetamine (MET), and Benzoidazepine (BZD).

Based on the results of the examination, overall ASP officers had negative results on the urine test kit. This is proof that ASP officers are free from drug abuse and illegal drugs.

"We are committed to continuing to maintain and ensure that our ASP officers are in good health and prime condition, so that they can serve the Nataru 2024/2025 transportation safely, safely, smoothly, and under control," said Anwar.
