Harry Kane Scores Goal, Bayern Munich Fails To Win Against Arsenal In The Champions League

JAKARTA - Striker Harry Kane broke into Arsenal's goal again. However, Bayern Munich failed to win in the first match of the Champions League quarter-finals. In a duel at the Emirates Stadium, Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in the morning WIB, Arsenal managed to match Bayern 2-2.

Kane remains a scourge for Arsenal despite changing clubs. The captain of the England national team always scored in The North London Derby when he was still in the Tottenham Hotspur uniform.

Kane still did the routine of breaking into the Gunners' goal while playing for Bayern. This was done when Bayern visited Arsenal's headquarters in North London.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has also warned his players to be aware of Kane. They were able to turn it off, but Kane, who was ridiculed by Arsenal's supporters throughout the game, still scored. Only he scored from the spot, aka a penalty kick.

The duel does present two weighted teams worthy of competing in the Champions League quarter-finals. Arsenal, who have only competed in the last eight for the first time since 14 years, tried to take the initiative to attack.

Their efforts paid off when the match entered the 12th minute. The front player Bukayo Saka successfully broke into Bayern's goal after completing a pass from Ben White. Arsenal lead 1-0.

Not long ago, Arsenal almost won two goals. But White's direct shot into the net was saved by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Arsenal's advantage did not last long. Bayern managed to equalize the score through Serge Gnabry in the 18th minute. The goal started with the carelessness of Arsenal defender Gabriel who lost possession.

Midfielder Leroy Sane managed to take advantage of it by winning the ball and giving it to Leon Goretzka.

Instead of kicking the ball into the net, Goretzka gave it to Gnabry. He also completed the opportunity to equalize the score.

Shortly thereafter, Bayern managed to turn things around after Kane scored from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute.

The penalty was given after defender William Saliba committed a violation by bringing down Sane who penetrated the forbidden box.

Referee Glenn Nyberg immediately pointed to the spot. Kane, who took the execution, received ridicule from the fans. But calmly he beat goalkeeper David Raya who had the wrong goal of anticipating the direction of the ball.

The score changed to 2-1 for Thomas Tuchel's team No goals were scored and the score didn't change until halftime.

Entering the second half, Bayern dominated the game more. This German Bundesliga giant shows he is an experienced team in European competitions.

They pressed the opponent. As a result, Arsenal can only rely on counter-attacks. When the team had difficulty dismantling the Bayern defense, Arteta also included Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard.

Arteta's decision was not wrong. Jesus and Trossard brought the Gunners' front line back on. Their efforts finally paid off. Trossard successfully broke into Bayern's goal to equalize the score in the 76th minute.

In 2-2 position, the match was even more interesting and tense. Bayern almost added a goal through Kingsley Coman. However, his shot from close range still hit the post.

Furthermore, Arsenal had asked for a penalty when Saka felt he was brought down. Only the referee allowed the incident. Until the end of the match the score remained 2-2.

The result slightly benefits Bayern who will host Arsenal in the second match at the Allianz Arena Stadium, Thursday, April 18, 2024 in the morning WIB.

But away goals were no longer taken into account so Bayern had to win the game.

If the score is 0-0 or 1-1, Bayern has not yet been declared to qualify for the semifinals even though they were able to score two goals at home to Arsenal.
