JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has officially signed France national team left-back Lucas Digne from Aston Villa in the 2026 summer transfer window.

"The 33-year-old defender is returning to the club he played for in the 2013 to 2015 period," PSG said in a statement on the club's website on Monday.

Digne, who grew up in the Paris area, said he was honored to return to PSG. He also said he was impressed with the club's progress in recent years.

"I am very honored to be able to return to Paris Saint-Germain. I can't wait to start a new chapter and give all my experience to the team," he continued.

After leaving PSG in 2015, Digne spent time on loan at AS Roma before joining Barcelona. While playing for the Catalan club, Digne was coached by Luis Enrique, who is now PSG's coach.

Digne then continued his career in England. He joined Everton in 2018 before moving to Aston Villa four years later.

With Aston Villa, Digne was part of the squad that won the Europa League last season under Unai Emery.

At the international level, Digne has made 64 appearances for the French national team. He is also the first choice at left-back for Les Bleus throughout the 2026 World Cup.

Digne became PSG's second major signing in the 2026 summer transfer window after the club signed fellow France international Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco.

Digne, as reported by Antara, has the opportunity to make his debut with PSG directly when facing his former club, Aston Villa, in the UEFA Super Cup in Salzburg, August 12, 2026.

However, in the long term, Digne is expected to play more as a cover for PSG's main left back, Nuno Mendes.
