Indian Wells Alcaraz Vs Sinner Semifinals Postponed, Here's Why

JAKARTA - After three games that opened the semifinals of the Indian Wells Masters, Saturday local time or Sunday WIB, light rain forced Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner off the field.

Risking place No. 2 at the ATP rankings, Sinner leads 2-1 with a match time of 17 minutes, ATP notes. No one faces a break point, although Alcaraz struggles through a brace to keep his first game service.

The two young competitors competed in their eighth ATP head-to-head battle, with Sinner leading 4-3.

The Italian wants revenge at Indian Wells after Alcaraz beat him in last year's semifinals on his way to winning the title.

Both Alcaraz and Sinner entered the semifinals with successive wins. Sinner is determined to extend his 19-match winning streak, including a record 16-0 this season, while Alcaraz is in 10 straight wins at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

After the rain stopped, the players returned to the field and warmed up after a short break, but the heavier rain made them return to the dressing room. In the interview before the semifinals, Alcaraz was well aware of the tough task of waiting for him when he faced the Australian Open 2024 champion.

"To be honest, I don't know how I will approach this match," Alcaraz said.

"He's the best player in the world right now, no doubt... He played amazingly, didn't lose this year. I really enjoyed watching him play."

"So, it's going to be a very difficult game. It's going to be a big challenge for me to see what level I'm facing," said the 20-year-old Spaniard.

Meanwhile, Sinner is excited to face his world number two opponent.

"Carlos, it's always fun playing with him," said Sinner.

"We are good friends off the pitch. On the pitch, we try to give 100 percent. I think we have a good attitude on the pitch."

"Usually, the game is good... Especially when he does the service very well, it's hard to play against him. I look forward to every challenge," said the 22-year-old.
