JAKARTA - The Indonesian Pedel contingent has made brilliant achievements at the 2024 Tournament International Asia Pacific Padel, which took place in several locations, including Bali, Manila, and Ho Chi Minh. In the last series, held in Vietnam on March 8-10, 2024, the Indonesian Padel athletes showed extraordinary dedication and skills.

In the competition, the Indonesian Padel team competed in several categories, including the Double Female and Mix Doubles. The Gumulya Sandi Gumulya and Karyn Emeralda Ni Nyoman Sri Maryati appeared in the Female Double category, while the Mario Y Prayanto Ni Nyoman Sri Maryati, Neils Koesoemahadi Karyn Emeralda, and wary Gumulyaa Panji Untung Setiawan competed in the Mix Double category. In addition, Indonesia also participated in the Mix Double Consolidation number.

A brilliant achievement was achieved by the Neils Koesoemahadi Karyn Emeralda who won the title in the Mix Double Consolidation number after winning the final match against representatives from the Philippines.

On the other hand, the Panji Untung pair had to settle for the runner-up position after losing the final match against the pair from the Philippines. Meanwhile, in the Female Double number, the Indonesian pair had to accept defeat to the Japanese pair in the final.

This achievement received appreciation from the General Chairperson of the Central KONI, Lt. Gen. Retired Marciano Norman, who expressed his pride for this achievement. The chairman of the Central KONI also hopes that Padel sports will be increasingly recognized in Indonesia and get greater support.

"As the Head of the Central KONI, I congratulate the Indonesian Sports Patriots from the Padel sport. This achievement is proud, and hopefully in the future it can continue to be improved so that Indonesia is increasingly recognized for its sports achievements," said the General Chairperson of the Central KONI, Lt. Gen. Retired Marciano Norman in a written statement received by VOI, Tuesday, March 12.

Galih Dimuntur Kartasasmita, Chairman of PBPI (Big Association of Padel Indonesia), emphasized her commitment to continuing to develop Padel sports in the country. She also focuses on preparing the team to face the fourth and fifth series in Hong Kong and China. Galih added that even though Padel is a new sport in Indonesia, she is optimistic that the potential of Indonesian athletes in this sport is very large.

For those who are not familiar yet, Padel is a new sport that resembles tennis. Padel is usually played in doubles on closed court which measures a third of a tennis court. The score is the same as the normal tennis and the ball used is similar. The main difference is that the field has walls and balls can be played from it in the same way as in the squad game and used a solid and ropeless bat.

Meanwhile, efforts to develop the Padel sport will also be carried out jointly with other countries in Southeast Asia. The Central KONI hopes that PBPI can fight for the inclusion of Padel in the SEA Games. This is PBPI's job to encourage Padel associations in Southeast Asian countries to be more organized and increase the number of international competitions.

With this brilliant achievement, Padel Indonesia proved that they are ready to compete in the international arena and provide the best for the country.
