Getting An Offer From The Portuguese Club, Carlos Fortes Officially Ends Togetherness With PSIS

JAKARTA - Carlos Fortes officially ended his togetherness with Liga 1 club, PSIS Semarang, on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Through an official statement, PSIS announced this news the day after.

Regarding the news of the resignation of his player, Yoyok Sukawi as CEO of PSIS reported that the main reason Fortes' decision was because of his family and offers that came from one of the Portuguese clubs.

Fortes submitted his resignation through a letter he wrote and addressed to PSIS management. Fortes' submission was then accepted by the club gracefully.

"First we convey that Carlos Fortes after the match against Persebaya (January 30, 2024) sent a letter of resignation. Things like this are normal in football, players come and go."

"We, the management and the coaching team, decided to accept Fortes' resignation because of various considerations, including for the sake of player togetherness and of course one of the clauses contained in the contract (the magics can move when there is a much higher offer than the contract at PSIS)," said Yoyok quoted from the PSIS website.

"Given these conditions, we respect each other. We also emphasize that the management, coaches, and all PSIS players will continue to fight for the rest of the match with the spirit that PSIS can achieve its target this season."

"Anyone who plays, the logo on the chest is much higher than the name on the back. I ask all levels of PSIS coach and player management who are still in the team, let's fight together and keep PSIS in the top four until the end of the season," said Yoyok.

Fortes said he did want to be closer to his family. In addition, he also admitted that he received offers from other clubs with higher salaries in Portugal, although he did not name his club.

After revealing the main reason for saying goodbye, Fortes also apologized to the management and team-mates for resigning from PSIS. However, he stressed that he would continue to maintain good relations with PSIS and not forget to thank him for the opportunities that had been given so far.

"I apologize to the club, management, teammates for choosing to resign from PSIS Semarang."
