Argentina Closes 2023 At The Top Of FIFA Ranking, Indonesia Crawls To 146 Positions

JAKARTA - The Argentine national team closed in 2023 by topping the FIFA rankings, while Indonesia is creeping in the 146th place in the world.

As reported by Antara from the official FIFA website, Tuesday, the Argentine national team has not been shifted to the top of the FIFA rankings throughout 2023, while the Indonesian national team had experienced up and down phases but showed a positive trend by up three places compared to the rankings at the beginning of the year.

As of April, the Tango Team, which is the winner of the 2022 World Cup, has not been shifted to the top of the FIFA rankings. Argentina closed 2023 with a total gain of 1855.20 points.

While in second place was followed by the 2022 World Cup finalists, the French national team with a collection of 1845.44 points and in third place was occupied by England who have been climbing up two places since last April with a collection of 1800.05 points.

The Indonesian national team experienced a positive trend throughout 2023 with a total of 1064.01 points collected. As of April, the Garuda team was ranked 149th in FIFA and closed in 2023 by up three places to 146.

Throughout 2023, Shin Tae-Yong's team had dropped to 150th in June and April. Meanwhile, the highest ranking increase in the Indonesian national team occurred in October, ranking 145th.

With a collection of 1064.01 points, Indonesia is ranked fifth in the Southeast Asian zone in the FIFA rankings. The two highest positions in ASEAN countries in FIFA rankings are still occupied by Vietnam and Thailand.

Vietnam closed in 2023 by occupying the 94th rank with a collection of 1235.58 points while Thailand was ranked 113th with a collection of 1176.75 points.

In 2024, the Indonesian national team has a great chance of getting additional points through the Qatar 2023 Asian Cup and 2026 World Cup Qualification. FIFA ranking renewal will take place on February 15, 2024.
