Playing With 10 Players, Atletico Madrid Arrested By Getafe

JAKARTA - Atletico Madrid, who played with 10 people, was detained by Getafe 3-3 in the Spanish La Liga match at the Metropolitano Stadium, Wednesday, December 20 in the morning WIB.

Atletico lost two points despite winning 3-1 against Getafe. However, Getafe managed to catch up and escaped the defeat through a penalty in injury time.

Even though for the first time he lost points at home games this season, that result was not disappointing because Atletico lost a player after Stefan Savic got a red card in the 38th minute.

The result can still improve Atletico's ranking which gets 35 points. They shift Barcelona which has the same points. However, Atletico are ahead on goal difference so they can rank three.

Atletico and Barca are nine points behind Girona who are at the top of the standings. While Getafe remains in eighth position with 26.

Responding to the result, coach Diego Simeone admitted that he was not disappointed. According to him, players have tried hard to win.

"Players have worked hard and shown their best form after a game every three days. We know it's been a tough game," said Simeone, who praised striker Antoine Griezmann.

In that match, Griezmann scored a brace that led him to collect 173 goals for the club as well as match club legend Luis Aragones' record. "I am very happy with Griezmann, a player who is part of the club's history. He gave everything and our important players," said the Argentine coach again.

In that match, Atletico faced an opponent who was not easy. While still having trouble scoring, Los Colchoneros instead lost Savic who elbowed Jaime Mata in the 38th minute.

For the violation, he received a second yellow card which was followed by a red card.

Playing with 10 people, Atletico managed to take the lead in the 44th minute. The French national team striker scored from close range after welcoming Rodrigo Riquelme's cross. The 1-0 score for the hosts closed the first half.

In the second half, Getafe managed to get up. They scored a goal that equalized through Borja Mayoral when the game had only been running for seven minutes. Goals came after Mayoral took advantage of the rebound ball with an accurate header. But Atletico took the lead again. This time it was the turn of striker Alvaro Morata to replace Rodrigo De Paul into Getafe's goal in the 63rd minute. And, six minutes later Griezmann scored the second goal from the penalty spot.

The referee briefly reviewed the incident via VAR before pointing to the spot. Griezmann also completed a penalty that made him equal Aragones' record.

Left 3-1 did not make Getafe give up. Entering the 87th minute, Getafe narrowed down when Oscar Rodriguez scored a goal after completing Assistron Suarez.

When entering the last minute, Getafe was awarded a penalty following Riquelme's foul that touched the ball in the area. Referee Jose Munuera pointed to the spot which was then protested by Riquelme.

Despite ignoring the protests, Munuera still reviewed the incident of the violation via VAR. The results confirm the referee's decision.

Mayoral's penalty was completed by beating Oblak. He also scored a brace and brought Getafe to a draw against Atletico with a score of 3-3.
