JAKARTA Francesco Bagnaia has emerged as the 2023 MotoGP world champion to beat his toughest rivals this season, Jorge Martin.

The Italian racer confirmed his title in the race at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia, Spain, Sunday, November 26, 2023.

Bagnaia was confirmed to defend his title when the race just started. The reason is, on the sixth lap Martin fell and could not continue the race.

This situation automatically makes Bagnaia's points no longer overtaken even though his fate is the same as Martin's. Bagnaia also won the world twice in a row.

This achievement matched the achievements of Marc Marquez who won the world champion twice in a row in 2018 and 2019.

Bagnaia locked his title sweetly because he climbed the first podium. He managed to close this season by getting a total of 467 points to win the second MotoGP world title in his career.

The racer who was born in Turin, Italy, January 14, 1997, previously won his first world title last season. At that time, he competed with defending champions from France, Fabio Quartararo.

Before becoming a world champion in MotoGP, Bagnaia actually liked a lot of sports, one of which was football. He even has a favorite club from Turin City, Juventus.

Automotive exercise was only Bagnaia's first choice when she was a teenager. He then joined Valentino Rossi's VR46 academy in 2013 when he was only 16 years old.

Bagnaia's journey at the Grand Prix was not smooth. He was briefly released by the VR46 academy and joined Mahindra in 2015 after failing to reach the podium in the Moto3 classes in 2013 and 2014.
