Rahmad Adi Mulyono Wins Speed Rock Climbing Number, Adds Indonesian Representatives At The 2024 Paris Olympics

JAKARTA - Indonesia has again secured one ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics through rock climbing. This time, Rahmad Adi Mulyono's success was achieved in the speed number.

At the IFSC Asian Qualifier 2023 rock climbing championship in Jakarta, Sunday, November 12, Rahmad Adi Mulyono came out as the champion. In the final round, Rahmad faced his compatriot, Kiromal Katibin.

In the men's speed number match, Rahmad recorded the fastest time of 5.35 seconds. Meanwhile, Katibin failed to record the time because he fell before completing the mission.

Rahmad's success in the speed number was a surprise in this tournament because it was actually the one who was seeded to qualify was Veddriq Leonardo or Kiromal Katibin. However, Rahmad proved himself to beat Katibin in the final and eliminated Veddriq in the quarter-finals.

"My feeling is very happy to qualify for Paris. Here we are also the hosts and this is the result of the hard work of the entire Indonesian team as well," said Rahmad in a short video on the FTPI official account quoted Monday, November 13.

Apart from Rahmad, Indonesia still has the opportunity to pass one more representative in the men's and women's speed number. That's because the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifying round will still be held in Budapest (Hungaria) and Shanghai (China) in early 2024.

With the passing of Rahmad Adi Mulyono, it means that Indonesia has confirmed that two representatives will appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Because previously tickets to Paris had been obtained from rock climbing sports through Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi.

The athlete from Bali got it after securing the title of the 2023 Rock Climbing World Championship women's speed number.
