Apriyani Rahayu Injured Betis, With Her Partner Resigning In The 2023 Hylo Open Final

JAKARTA The head coach of women's doubles Eng Hian confirmed that Apriyani Rahayu had a calf injury, so that with her partner Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti withdrew from the Hylo Open 2023 final.

Apri/Fadia played their final match against the Chinese pair, Zhang Shu Xian/Zheng Yu, Sunday, November 5, 2023 evening WIB.

The Indonesian representatives were already 21-18 ahead in the first game. However, they could not continue the game when the score was 1-1 in the second game.

"Apriyani decided to withdraw in the final round of the Hylo Open 2023 due to a right calf injury. This injury was sudden, not felt before," said Eng Hian, quoted from PBSI's statement.

The injury was caused by Apri landing at the beginning of the second game. He could not endure the pain after that and decided to resign.

Eng Hian said that he did not want to take the risk, so Apri's desire not to continue the game was immediately agreed upon.

"Apriyani chose to resign because she was not strong enough to endure the pain. I didn't want to force Apriyani to continue competing, which made her injury even worse," said Eng Hian.

Eng Hian hopes that Apri will recover soon upon arrival in Indonesia and receive medical treatment.

"Arriving in the country, Apri will soon get the best medical treatment so that he can recover soon and be ready to compete again," he said.
