Hong Kong Open 2023: Hendra/Ahsan Keep Men's Doubles Safe

JAKARTA – The pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan qualified for the second round of the Hong Kong Open 2023 after stopping Malaysia's representatives, Junaidi Arif/Roy King Yap.

The men's doubles team, familiarly known as "The Daddies", received tickets to the second round after winning three games 15-21, 21-16 and 21-16 at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Tuesday, September 12, 2023 evening of Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

Hendra/Ahsan's success in the second round means that all five Indonesian men's doubles numbers that took part in this event are still safe. Before them, four representatives had already passed.

Moments before The Daddies qualified, the pair Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri had already locked their place in the second round.

The success of this pair meant that Indonesia automatically got a ticket to the quarter-finals. The reason is, Bagas/Fikri will meet their colleagues Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin in the second round.

Apart from the three pairs above, tickets for the second round were also secured by Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Rambitan.

Fajar/Rian qualified after winning over Su Ching Heng/Ye Hong Wei, while Pram/Yere extended their journey at the BWF Super 500 event after stopping Ayato Endo/Yuta Takei.

Apart from the five men's doubles representatives who were all still safe, the women's doubles pair, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Ramadhanti, also made it to the second round.

Apri/Fadia got the tickets after playing two fierce games against their compatriots Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi.
