Carlos Alcaraz's Duel Opportunities With Novak Djokovic At US Open 2023 Are Threatened

JAKARTA Tennis player Carlos Alcaraz in the shadow of injury after his latest victory in the fourth round of the US Open 2023 to reach the quarter-finals. The opportunity to face Novak Djokovic is also threatened.

The defending Spanish champion did not waste much time defeating Matteo Arnaldi with a convincing victory of straight games 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Tuesday, September 5 morning WIB.

However, the view on Alcaraz's left foot that looked tied made the injury alarm sound. This clearly makes all his supporters deserve to worry.

However, Alcaraz in a press conference after the match emphasized that he had not suffered any serious injuries. This statement was strengthened by his appearance which was able to win a straight game against his opponent.

"It's quite difficult to play in Grand Slams. You play a tough game for two weeks and it's natural that you feel pain in your body and you have to take care of it. Nothing serious, I just take care of it," Alcarez said, quoted by Tennis365.

This victory made the player who is currently 20 years old only need three more wins to defend his title.

If successful in reaching the final round, Alcaraz will most likely meet Novak Djokovic, who is the second seed in the closing Grand Slam event of the season.

Alcaraz, who has collected two Grand Slams, is one of the tournament's favorites. Moreover, he always performs well, in all types of fields: hard, clay, and grass.

"Right now my favorite surface is a hard field and when I won Wimbledon I said that I fell in love with grass. I was very comfortable with the three surfaces, but now the hard field is my favorite field," he said.

This year Alcaraz lifted his second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon last July. He won the event after beating Djokovic five sets in the final.
