Andre Onana Gets Targeted By Criticism Again, This Time From Peter Schmeichel

JAKARTA - Peter Schmeichel admitted that he could not speak up after seeing his former team, Manchester United, losing 1-3 to Arsenal, Sunday, September 3.

He also openly criticized Andre Onana, who he considered to have contributed to Arsenal's two late goals scored by Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus.

In a dramatic afternoon at the Emirates, Erik ten Hag's side did not take home anything as the Gunners took all three points.

Marcus Rashford put United ahead, but two minutes later Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard equalized. Then Rice and Jesus' goals in extra time gave an important win for the North London team.

Schmeichel could not contain his annoyance. This Danish man said: "I can't say... I'm surprised."

"Losing in the game was a bad way. MU defended so badly that a corner kick ended up. Declan Rice had plenty of time (to get the chance) and goalkeepers should have been able to save him," he continued.

This is not the first time Onana has received a sharp spotlight on her appearance. The player who was bought 43 million from Inter Milan made several mistakes that were fatal to his team.

One of them occurred in the test match against Lens ahead of the competition. He was too far from the goal to make it easier for opposing players to score goals.

Meanwhile, MU's defeat left them 11th in the standings with two wins and two defeats in the first four Premier League matches 2023/2024. Ten Hag's squad will next face Brighton at Old Trafford on September 16.
