PSG Must Immediately Sell Kylian Mbappe, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - Former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) sporting director Leonardo suggested that Kylian Mbappe be sold soon. According to him, the French national team star is not a leader who deserves to be defended.

Leonardo believes the club should get rid of Mbappe amid rumors of the player wanting to leave on a free transfer next summer.

He told L'Equipe, "For the good of PSG, I think it's time for Mbappe to leave, whatever happens. PSG was there before Mbappe and it will be there after."

"He's been in Paris for six years and for those six seasons, five different clubs have won the Champions League, no one has Mbappe in their ranks," he continued.

According to Leonardo, PSG could still pursue a dream to become Champions League champions even without Mbappe. He said the player's attitude in the last two seasons has shown what his figure looks like.

"Through his behavior in the last two years, Mbappe has shown that he is not yet a player capable of guiding the team. He is a great player, but not a leader," said Leonardo.

"He's a great goalscorer, but he's not a creative player. Building a team around him is difficult," he said again.

Mbappe's contract with PSG will expire in the summer of 2024. There is an option for an extension of one year.

However, the star has notified PSG by letter that he plans to cancel his contract and leave for free.

The club certainly didn't want to lose him without getting anything and gave him an ultimatum.

Real Madrid is still the first candidate to sign him. Meanwhile, speculation shows Manchester United and Arsenal can also be the next destination.
