PSG President's Ultimatum For Kylian Mbappe: Want To Hold On? Sign New Contract!

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) seems to be running out of patience with their star player, Kylian Mbappe. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi gave an ultimatum to Mbappe.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi insists the player must sign a new contract if he wants to stay at his club. He insists the French giant club will not release him free next year.

Last month, Mbappe sent a letter to PSG stating he had no intention of extending his contract, which expires in 2024.

However, Mbappe later clarified that he did not ask the French club to allow him to move to Real Madrid, who had tried to sign him but failed after the player extended his contract.

"My position is very clear. I don't want to repeat it all the time: if Kylian wants to stay, he needs to sign a new contract," Al-Khelaifi was quoted as saying by AFP via Antara.

"We don't want to lose the world's best players for free, we can't do that. This is a French club."

"He said he would never go for free. If he changes his mind today, it's not my fault. We don't want to lose the best player in the world for free, that's very clear," continued Al-Khealifi.

PSG is currently facing a dilemma whether to keep it or sell it at a lower price because its contract only lasts until next year.

Mbappe has been Ligue 1's top scorer in the last five seasons and PSG will be eager to keep it.

Moreover, PSG has lost Lionel Messi on a free transfer. Messi chose not to extend his contract to move to Inter Miami.
