JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo revealed that currently the government together with the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) are preparing stadiums that have the potential to become U-17 World Cup venues.

Dito Ariotedjo also said that the government will now renovate 22 stadiums to support the development of Indonesian sports in the future.

"Obviously we (the government) are now preparing all stadiums that have the potential to become U-17 World Cups. The government is also preparing 22 stadiums in Indonesia so that in the future they can be used optimally," said Dito Ariotedjo, quoted from Antara, Sunday.

Dito also confirmed that currently the stadiums that are reviewed are not only the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) but also several stadiums that have the potential to become venues.

Regarding the selection of the FIFA World Cup U-17 stadium, Dito said that currently he is still waiting for a decision from FIFA as the decisive party.

"Currently, stadiums that have met FIFA standards are Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK), Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT), Manahan Stadium, Jakabaring Stadium and I Wayan Dipta Stadium. JIS Stadium is an option (FIFA World Cup U-17 venue) but there are still some notes but meet the standards (FIFA) as well," said Dito Ariotedjo.

Previously, the Minister of Youth and Sports would hold a meeting with PSSI regarding the agenda for discussing the preparations for the FIFA World Cup U-17 2023, but for the agenda Dito said it would be held this Sunday after yesterday there was a long holiday.

The U-17 World Cup is scheduled to be held from November 10 to December 2. Regarding the use of venues or stadiums, until now FIFA has not checked.

Gelora Bung Karno Stadium has a small possibility to hold the opening of the U-17 World Cup due to clashes with the Coldplay band concert agenda, which previously obtained permission to use the concert which will be held on November 15.
