JAKARTA - Liga 1 2023/2024 will start July 1. The highest competition between Indonesian clubs is believed to present interesting competitions in a new format.
Different from before, Liga 1 2023/2024 will use two formats in the form of regularity and championship.
"Next league (season 2023/2024) has a more beautiful format, there are regular series and champions series," said Ferry Paulus as President Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) who is the operator of the competition.
The regular format will run like the previous year, where the match will be played for 34 weeks. While the championship series will be played in eight matches after the regular series is complete.
At the launch of Liga 1 2023/2024 in Senayan, Jakarta on Thursday, June 15, Ferry Paulus explained that the existence of a championship series this season is one way to continue to hone more attractive competitiveness between winning teams.
"Regular itu 34 minggu, nanti empat tim terbaik dari ini akan kompetisi di championship series," katanya.
"Championship series is to get slots in the Asian champions and the AFC Cup," continued Ferry Paulus.
PT LIB said it would not be carried out without a transformation that would allow competition to advance to class.
"The league also made improvements through revolution, both internally and through restructuring. It is also important that facilities and infrastructure in the stadium be repaired in order to be able to present interesting spectacles that make the league class up," he said.
