Menpora Will Immediately Report To President Joko Widodo If Elected As PSSI Deputy Chairman

JAKARTA – The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali admitted that he would immediately report to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) if he was elected as deputy chairman of PSSI for the 2023-2027 period.

Amali is one of 16 people who are running for deputy chairman of the national football governing body at the PSSI extraordinary congress (KLB) at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday, 16 February 2023.

"If someone chooses later, if someone chooses and I am elected, I will immediately report it to the President [Joko Widodo] because I am the president's assistant," he told the media crew.

However, he himself could not confirm whether he was elected or not in this congress. The man from Gorontalo said that he completely surrendered his fate to the owner of the voting rights.

"Yes, we'll see if someone votes or not. Ask voters (owners of voting rights). I don't know," said the 60-year-old figure.

In this year's KLB, as many as 86 voters will elect one general chairman, two deputy chairmen, and 12 members of the PSSI executive committee for the 2023-2027 period. There are a total of four chairperson candidates, 16 deputy candidates, and 55 member candidates.

The four general chairman candidates who will compete in this KLB are Erick Thohir (Minister of BUMN), La Nyalla Mattalitti, Chairperson of DPD RI), Arif Putra Wicaksono, and Doni Setiabudi.

Before the candidate for general chairman, there were actually five names. However, Fary Djemy Francis withdrew from the nomination last Wednesday.
