When Marselino Ferdinan's Decision Left STY And Indra Sjafri Disappointed

JAKARTA - Marselino Ferdinan's decision to go to Belgium to join KMSK Deinze has created a polemic. The two frontmen in the Indonesian national team regretted the 18-year-old player's decision.

PSSI Technical Director Indra Sjafri said Marselino should have informed PSSI when he decided to continue his career in the Belgian League 2.

"Ideally he would inform PSSI," said Indra who also said there was no obligation to do so.

Indra Sjafri assessed that Marselini should have been patient until the U-20 World Cup event was over. He said, there are hundreds of talent scouts who will be present to monitor the tournament.

"If he plays well there, maybe there will be more choices for clubs in Europe," said the former Bali United coach.

The same thing was also conveyed by coach Shin Tae-Yong. According to him, Marcelino has lost the opportunity to get a better team.

"Supposedly, after the U-20 World Cup is over," said the man from South Korea.

"I don't know the details of Marselino's contract yet. Certainly, his price will be different after the U-20 World Cup. Moreover, Europe has just started the season around that month too," continued STY.

Just like Indra Sjafri, he was disappointed that Marselino, and also Roberto Kwateh, did not first discuss with him and PSSI regarding the departure to Europe.

The reason is, these two players are included in the team's projections for the U-20 World Cup which will be held in Indonesia starting in May 2023. In fact, STY has said, the two players will become core players in the team later.
