JAKARTA - A number of clubs participating in the League 2 competition simultaneously expressed their rejection and disappointment over the decision of PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB).
As previously reported, PSSI and PT LIB officially stopped the continuation of the League 2 and League 3 competitions. The decision was taken based on three factors.
PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi claimed this termination was due to a request from the majority of League 2 clubs to stop the league. It's just not mentioned how many clubs proposed this.
The second reason is to stop it because it is in accordance with the recommendations of the Indonesian Football Transformation team after the Flood Tragedy. The team said the facilities and infrastructure of the League 2 club had not met the predetermined requirements.
Third, the decision was taken in accordance with Police Regulation (Perpol) number 10 of 2022. The Perpol stated that the competition licensing period is a maximum of 14 days before the match time.
The results of this meeting then gave rise to various reactions from the clubs participating in Liga 2. The majority expressed disappointment and asked that the competition be resumed.
Bekasi City's FC Chief Operating Officer, Wafa Amri said the decision to stop League 2 was a major blow. He considered this a form of the federation's way of killing dreams.
"The cessation of League 2 and League 3 by PSSI was a major blow to FC Bekasi City who was in the first position in the Central Group. Of course, it was sad and very disappointed," he said in a written statement received by VOI, Thursday, January 12.
"The exco PSSI decision automatically kills our dreams and hopes to be promoted to Liga 1. Hopefully this decision can still be changed, they must think about the fate of thousands of players, officials of Liga 2 and 3 who depend on football's life," he continued.
A similar feeling was also conveyed by the Medan PSMS. They are also disappointed by this decision. Moreover, so far PSMS has made thorough preparations to follow the league continued.
"Of course we are disappointed. We have been preparing since last month regarding the continuation of the league. Moreover, there is a breath of fresh air from LIB that Liga 2 will continue on January 14, 2023)," said PSMS Media Officer, Aldi Aulia in Medan, as quoted from Antara, Friday, January 13.
Semen Padang FC CEO, Win Bernadino, is no less disappointed with PSSI and PT LIB's decision to stop the continuation of the League 2 competition. He emphasized that Semen Padang was excited in the race for promotion tickets to Liga 1.
"As a team, we, Semen Padang FC, are disappointed with the termination of Liga 2 in 2022. Because God willing, with the preparations we make, we are sure that we can compete in the race for promotion tickets to Liga 1," he said.
