JAKARTA - PSSI General Chair, Mochamad Iriawan, stated that the government's stance that it would not intervene in the implementation of the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) was a positive thing for national football.
The government's steps not to intervene with PSSI were repeatedly mentioned by Menpora Zainudin Amali. He reiterated this after meeting with President Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
"We really appreciate the government's attitude which will ensure that it will not interfere in the upcoming PSSI outbreak," said Iriawan, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 1.
"This is a positive thing for our football going forward," continued the figure who is familiarly called Iwan Bule.
The decision to accelerate the KLB, said Iriawan, was solely taken by PSSI as a form of responsibility so that football competition in Indonesia could resume.
As for PSSI's decision to speed up the outbreak, he said, it was actually based on good intentions, as well as a positive response to the recommendations submitted by the Kanjuruhan Tragedy Independent Fact Finding Team (TGIPF) so that PSSI immediately held an outbreak.
"Right now we have sent a letter to FIFA. So for now, let's just be patient while thinking about how the competition in this country can get back running. Competition is dignity and we have to make sure it can run," said Iriawan.
Previously, the Menpora revealed that the President had reminded government officials not to intervene and interfere in the implementation of the PSSI KLB.
"I just reported him (President), yes, he just listened, there was nothing, and just reminded me that the government is following, no intervention, no interference," he said.
Menpora said the outbreak had been decided according to the mechanism in PSSI. "The government has handed everything over to PSSI, please PSSI to do it in accordance with existing regulations. There is a FIFA statute and PSSI has a statute," he said.
