Crashed Jack Miller's Dream in Australian MotoGP by Collision, Alex Marquez: He Has Reasons To Be Angry

JAKARTA - Alex Marquez considers himself the trigger for the destruction of Jack Miller's dream to reach the podium at the Australian MotoGP 2022. Therefore, the LCR Honda rider immediately apologized.

At the Phillip Island Circuit, Alex started the race from 11th position and continued to show improvement by racing to 7th position. However, when entering lap nine, Alex actually made a fatal mistake.

Quoted from Speedweek, Monday, Alex hit Miller who tried to brake but lost control at Turn 4. In the same situation, Alex sped up and accidentally hit the back of Miller's motorbike, sending both of them off the track.

The incident then had an impact on Miller's record time which was trying to reach the podium in front of his own supporters. After the race, Alex apologized to Miller for ruining the hosts' bid to win.

"Unfortunately it (the collision) happened only eight laps. First of all, I want to apologize to Jack (Miller) because I ruined the Grand Prix at his house", said Alex Marquez quoted by Speedweek.

"I understand he was angry and he did have reasons for it. I made a mistake when entering the corner", continued Alex.

Marc Marquez's younger brother said he had been very careful in braking at corners. However, in reality, he had lost control.

"When I braked a little then my rear wheel locked. I opened the brakes a little too fast. I apologize to Miller and his team, and also to my team", explained Alex.

Self-aware, Alex has also tried to apologize directly to the Ducati paddock after the incident. However, Marquez said Miller still harbored annoyance.

After the race, the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel consisting of Freddie Spencer, Andres Somolinos, and Ralph Bohnhorst, also spoke about the punishment that should be applied.

Because of that incident, Alex had to face a long lap penalty in the Malaysian MotoGP race which took place on Sunday, October 23.
