WSBK Mourns, WSSP 300 racer Victor Steeman Dies After Fatal Accident In Portugal

JAKARTA - The motorcycle racing world mourns. The Dutch racer who took part in the World Superbike (WSBK) World Supersport 300 class, Victor Steeman, was declared dead.

Steeman had a serious accident in the first race of the WSSP 300 at the Algarve Circuit, Portugal, Saturday, October 8 yesterday.

Steeman was involved in an accident with several riders at Turn 14, before last weekend's race was stopped.

The Kawasaki MTM rider received treatment at the circuit medical center before being flown to Faro Hospital.

After receiving intensive care, Steeman eventually died, according to an official World Superbike statement.

"The thing that you always feared as a parent of a motorcycle racer has now happened", the Steeman family said in a statement.

"We want to thank everyone who has been by our side over the last few days. We will miss our Victor very much", the family continued.

The rider who was born on June 15 2000 is enjoying a competitive season in the 2022 season. He arrived in Portugal as one of the title challengers this season.

Steeman took second place in the standings with four wins, five podiums, and three pole positions. Steeman always finishes with points in 12 of the 14 races he has run.

He also made his name in the history books through the pole position at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit, thus becoming the rider with the most pole positions in the World Supersport 300 class.
