Police Say 2 People Arrested for Religious Blasphemy at "The Sounds Project" Event Male and Female Couples

JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) has examined 6 witnesses regarding the alleged blasphemy during the "The Sounds Project" music festival in the Ancol area, North Jakarta.

However, the six witnesses have not been able to be detailed from which party the police investigators took their statements.

"There are witnesses (from the beverage company), there are (from the music festival organizers)," said Acting Head of the North Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Oki Waskito to reporters, Wednesday, August 12.

Meanwhile, the women with the initials R and the man with the initials E who are suspected perpetrators are currently undergoing an examination at the North Jakarta Police.

The status of the two's employment is not yet known, because the investigation process is still ongoing until Wednesday evening.

"Well, after the deeper examination, after the determination of the suspect, we will release it again. What is clear is that he (R and E) was there, recorded in the video," he said.

The Police Chief also mentioned the possibility of adding suspected perpetrators in the case of alleged blasphemy.

"It is not impossible to spread to other parties. Meanwhile, there are two that we have secured. We are still conducting in-depth research, especially for the two I mentioned earlier," he said.

From the results of the preliminary examination, the suspected perpetrators with initials R and E were known as residents of Jakarta.

"Some of them were taken, we brought them back (secured), we invited them to the office," he said.

Previously reported, the North Jakarta Metro Police continued to investigate the alleged blasphemy at the "The Sounds Project" music festival held in the Ancol area, North Jakarta.

Acting Head of the North Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Oki Waskito, said that after the incident of religious blasphemy on Sunday night, then viral on Monday, his party tried to report it to the police.

"Alhamdulillah on Monday afternoon from the Pademangan District MUI could be present to provide a report and we pour it in the form of a police report. After we received the police report, we conducted a marathon examination of witnesses, we called, some of us picked up," he told reporters, Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
