Make It Difficult For Liverpool To Face Crystal Palace At Anfield, Patrick Vieira: I Am Very Happy And Satisfied

JAKARTA - Crystal Palace coach Patrick Vieira is pleased and satisfied with his team's performance in the match against Liverpool on Monday night.

In that match, Palace managed to make trouble for the hosts until the match ended in a 1-1 draw. In fact, according to Vieira, appearing at Anfield in front of the home fans is not an easy thing.

"I'm very happy and satisfied because it (the Anfield Stadium) is not an easy place to play, and we defended well as a visiting team," Vieira was quoted as saying by BBC Sports on Tuesday.

Vieira said the success of his team holding the Reds could not be separated from the concept he applied.

Vieira had previously asked the team to play deeper in order to protect the defensive area from militant attacks which is the philosophy of Liverpool's game.

The tactic went smoothly because the Eagles managed to score first through winger Wilfried Zaha in the 32nd minute, before finally the Reds equalized through Luis Diaz's goal in the 61st minute. Vieira even believes they should be able to make more than one goal.

"We are ready to suffer and counter-attack quickly through Zaha who runs from behind. He actually can score more than one goal," continued the French coach.

At the end of the match, Vieira did not hesitate to praise the attitude of his players. According to him, the Crystal Palace squad has been able to maintain concentration on the field and maintain discipline throughout the match.

After successfully holding Liverpool to a draw, Palace brought home a point in their inaugural match. The result makes the team from London is now ranked 16th.
