Affordable Aircraft Ticket Prices Help Increase Local Tourism

JAKARTA - The government's decision to lower domestic ticket prices during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays is expected to help increase tourism.

"Synergy and coordination continue to be carried out with the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure, and the Task Force Team in the last two weeks. The team is working hard and solid so that ticket prices, God willing, can be more affordable by the public during the Christmas and New Year holidays," said Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana as quoted in a press release from the ministry in Jakarta, Thursday.

Policy relaxation related to affordable flight ticket prices can help domestic tourism industry players to prepare tour travel packages at a more affordable price.

"Relaxation of policies is needed as a breath of fresh air for the community and the tourism sector, especially when welcoming the Christmas and New Year holidays," he said.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, Elba Damhuri, said that the government decided to lower the ticket price for domestic flights during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays.

"The government has agreed to lower the ticket price for domestic flights by 10 percent during Natarudi at all airports in Indonesia," said Elba.

The flight tariff adjustment, according to him, took place for 16 days from December 19, 2024 to January 3, 2025 for aircraft tickets that had not been sold.
