JAKARTA - Thailand's former international Muay Thai silver medalist Phanphet Phadungchai has been declared 'brain dead' following a tragic incident in a boxing fight.
The incident occurred when Phadungchai took part in a match against the French boxer known as Anthony TFC on Friday last week.
In that duel, Phadungchai who was nicknamed "Pan Diamond" got a big punch in the jaw. The blow knocked him down and hit his head hard against the canvas in the fifth and final round.
After the incident he was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital in Bangkok. There he was sentenced to suffer from bleeding in the brain.
Pan Diamond also had to lose brain function permanently, irreversibly, and totally. He reportedly didn't have a chance to recover and he had to survive on aids.
Now Phadungchai is no longer treated with stimulant drugs. The former Thailand Muay Thai national team fighter who won a silver medal at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines had to be assisted with a ventilator.

"[Phanphet's] mother and wife have given consent to Phanphet to stop being treated with stimulants. However, he is still on a ventilator to breathe. We are waiting for a miracle," the statement was quoted as saying by Daily Star.
Several false reports claimed the family had removed his ventilator on Monday. This action actually allowed Phadungchai to die.
