AS Roma Unilaterally Withdraws From The Joan Gamper Trophy, Barcelona Will Take Legal Action

JAKARTA - Barcelona has released a statement that they are ready to take AS Roma to legal action. This was triggered by the attitude of Rome which was considered unilaterally and without reason to withdraw from the Joan Gamper Trophy tournament.

Quoted from Theatletic.com, Tuesday, the Joan Gamper Trophy tournament is a traditional friendly match as the season opener at Camp Nou. This time, AS Roma was invited to participate in the annual match which will be held on 6 August and also involves the women's team.

Regarding their withdrawal from the Joan Gamper Trophy, Roma has given a statement confirming the decision as a consequence of the need to change the plans for the summer friendlies. This they say aims to ensure the best preparation and conditions ahead of the 2022/2023 season.

The statement made by the Giallorossi did not make Barcelona satisfied. The Blaugrana stated in an annoyed and aggressive tone that even threatened legal action against the Serie A team.

"Barcelona announces that AS Roma has decided to unilaterally, without reason, withdraw from the contract agreed to by both parties for the Joan Gamper Trophy match to be played on 6 August at Camp Nou in a match between men's and women's teams. looking for a new opponent for this year's edition", read a Barcelona statement quoted by Theatletics.com.

Regarding this case, Barcelona then gave a deadline of 24 hours to Roma to return the financial profits generated from the tickets sold. Barcelona also wants to explain that the suspension of the match was caused by circumstances beyond their control, namely because of the wishes of AS Roma.

"The Club's Legal Department is studying possible action against the Italian club for the losses suffered by FC Barcelona and its fans due to this unexpected and unjustified decision", the statement added.
