JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting admitted that his performance in the last number of tournaments has tended to decline. But he is determined to bounce back at the 2022 Asian Championships, and make up for his previous failures.

According to Ginting, the level of the Asian Championship which is equivalent to the BWF Super 1000 makes all participants look for victory. Because of that he didn't want to miss the opportunity to earn points and get the best results.

"All players definitely want to win here, especially since the points are as big as Super 1000. I want to show the best game from the first, second and so on," said Ginting in a written statement from PP PBSI in Jakarta, Sunday, April 24.

Competing in Manila, Ginting already has a sweet capital from this country after successfully bringing Indonesia to the highest podium in the 2019 SEA Games team number and 2020 Asian Team Championship.

"I have sweet memories in the Philippines. I competed here twice and was able to bring Indonesia the champion. Hopefully it can happen again now. I can't wait to compete soon," said Ginting.

In the first round, the badminton player from the SGS PLN club will be challenged by a representative from Thailand, Sittikhom Thammasin.

On the occasion of a press conference in Manila, Philippine Badminton Association Vice President Jude Michael H Turcuato expressed his gratitude and welcome to all participants of the 2022 Asian Championships.

"Thank you and welcome to the Philippines to all participants of the 2022 Asian Championships and also to the Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC). It is an honor for us to hold the Asian Championship tournament which is now equivalent to the BWF Super 1000 level," said Jude.

The 2022 Asian Championships will take place from April 26 - May 1 at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex, the same location used for the 2019 SEA Games.
