2 Bruno Fernandes' Goals From Ronaldo-Jota's Assists Take Portugal To Qatar 2022 World Cup

JAKARTA - Two goals from Bruno Fernandes brought Portugal to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after defeating North Macedonia with a score of 2-0 in the final of the European zone qualifying playoff route C at the Do Dragao Stadium, Porto, Tuesday night local time (Wednesday, western Indonesia time).

Quoted from Antara, Bruno Fernandes scored his first goal in the 32nd minute after receiving a pass from Cristiano Ronaldo, while the second he scored in the 65th minute completed Diogo Jota's pass.

This victory over North Macedonia made Portugal record success in qualifying for the World Cup six times in a row after failing to qualify in the last 1998 French edition.

In this match, Portugal dominated the game with 65 percent possession with 11 shots of which 3 were on target, while North Macedonia only had three shots and none on target.

In the first half, Portugal was more dominant in applying pressure and had threatened in the 14th minute when Cristiano Ronaldo's shot still did not meet the target.

Under pressure, North Macedonia tried to retaliate with an effort from full-back Ezgjan Alioski after his volley went sideways from the Portugal goal which was guarded by Diogo Costa.

Liverpool striker Diogo Jota had threatened the goal from North Macedonia when his header just bounced over Stole Dimitrievski's crossbar in the 20th minute.

Portugal was able to break the deadlock in the 32nd minute through Bruno Fernandes who fired hard and found the net for North Macedonia after receiving a pass from Cristiano Ronaldo which made it 1-0.

In the remaining time of the first half, Portugal remained dominant and had several times threatened the goal from North Macedonia, but until halftime the score remained 1-0.

In the second half, Portugal again dominated the game and created a chance in the 52nd minute through Bruno Fernandes' powerful shot from outside the box, but his shot was saved by Dimitrievski.

Cristiano Ronaldo again posed a threat against North Macedonia in the 59th minute, but his header still bounced over the bar.

Portugal's second goal was finally created in the 65th minute through Bruno Fernandes who was able to open a direct shot after receiving a cross from Diogo Jota so the score changed to 2-0.

In the remaining time of the match, Portugal did not relax attacks and created several chances but until the final whistle the score was 2-0 for the Selecao's victory to hold on.
