The Crimean Peninsula Heats Up, Shevchenko: Ukraine Is My Homeland!

JAKARTA - The heated political situation between Russia and Ukraine has angered former footballer Andriy Shevchenko. As a citizen of Ukraine, Shevchenko realizes that the current situation is not going well.

In the midst of these circumstances, he emphasized his love for his homeland, Ukraine. Through the latest upload on his Instagram account, Shevchenko also called for pride in a country that has been sovereign for 30 years.

Shevchenko made this statement through the caption column, where he also uploaded a photo of a map of the region and the Ukrainian flag in the background.

“Ukraine is my homeland! I am always proud of my people and country! We have been through many difficult times, and over the last 30 years we have shaped as a nation!” he wrote.

Not only that, but Shevchenko also said that Ukraine is a country that loves freedom. So that the political turmoil that recently heated up made him feel like he was having a hard time.

“A nation with sincere, hardworking, and freedom-loving citizens! This is our most important asset! Today is a difficult time for all of us."

Finally, responding to the heated situation between his country and Russia, Shevchenko called for all Ukrainian citizens to unite for victory and peace to be maintained.

“But we must unite! In unity, we will win! Glory to Ukraine!” concluded Shevchenko.

Regarding tensions between Russia and Ukraine, in recent times President Vladimir Putin has made several threats for Russia to invade Ukraine.

On the other hand, Putin also asked his troops to immediately enter Ukraine on a peacekeeping mission. This happened after the president realized that Ukraine was an independent land.

The existence of a planned movement of Russian troops made fears of an invasion that could occur in the Ukrainian capital, namely Kyiv.
