Club World Cup 2021 Starts Today, Check Out The Complete Schedule

JAKARTA - The Club World Cup which is an annual FIFA event will be held again this year. So the 18th edition, this tournament will start its first match on Thursday, February 3 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

In this tournament, there are seven participants who will compete for the championship title. The first club was Chelsea representing UEFA, then Palmeiras representing Conmebol, Al Hilal for AFC, Al Ahly representing CAF, Monterrey representing CONCACAF, AS Pirae for OFC, and Al Jazira as the host.

The seven clubs that appeared as participants, the majority had participated in this tournament agenda in the previous year. For this 18th edition, even though the tournament will be held in 2022, FIFA still calls it the 2021 Club World Cup tournament.

This is inseparable from the hectic football agenda last year and the uncertain pandemic situation. Due to this, the tournament, which was originally planned to be held in Japan, was forced to move to the United Arab Emirates in 2022.

The first round of the 2021 Club World Cup will open with a duel between Al Jazira and AS Pirae at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium at 23.30 p.m. Indonesian Western Time (WIB).

The match then proceeds to the second round which will be held on Saturday, February 5. At this stage, it was Al Ahly's turn to face Monterrey. While the third round, which took place on Sunday, February 6, the winner between Al Jazira and AS Pirae will meet Al Hilal.

Chelsea and Palmeiras themselves will only play in the semifinals on Wednesday, February 9. The Blues will face the winning team on Sunday, February 6. Meanwhile, Palmeiras will also wait for the opponent who won the duel between Al Ahly vs Monterrey.

Meanwhile, the new final will take place on Saturday, February 12. In addition to looking for a champion, the 2021 Club World Cup also provides a place for third-placed clubs. The fight for third place will take place before the final match. While the fight for the fifth place will be contested on Wednesday, February 9.
