Depak Praveen/Melati From Pelatnas PBSI, Nova Widianto Coach: After All England The Results Are Not Satisfactory

JAKARTA – Mixed doubles coach Nova Widianto revealed the reason for expelling Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti from the PBSI 2022 National Training Center (Pelatnas). The decline in performance was the main reason.

This reason was conveyed by Nova in a press conference on Friday, January 28. Apart from the names Praveen/Melati, the names of Hafiz Faizal and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja are also confirmed to have been eliminated from Cipayung.

"It is true that the names Praveen (Jordan) and Melati (Daeva Oktavianti) who are senior players, but are not included in the National Training.

Other parameters that made Praveen/Melati eliminated from the National Training Center were age, how long they had been in the National Training Center, and finally their character. In addition, PBSI does need to regenerate athletes from the mixed doubles sector to prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Nova admitted that until now Praveen/Melati are still the best. However, their achievements have decreased drastically since becoming champions at the All England two years ago.

"They have already won the All England. So PBSI's expectations are that they want them to be more stable, but after the All England the results were not satisfactory and we agreed that in the mixed doubles there was regeneration because they have also been in the National Training Center for a long time," he said.

After winning the All England 2020, Praveen / Melati's performance plummeted. No titles have been achieved. Their best achievement is only being runner up in the 2020 Thailand Open and Hylo Open 2021.

PBSI officially summoned a total of 88 athletes to enter the 2022 National Training through the decree. Some of the names that were called had already joined Pelatnas in the previous year and some were new athletes who passed through the national selection and achievement monitoring routes.

In addition to athletes, PBSI also summoned 21 coaches to join the National Training Center. That number consists of 17 technical trainers and 4 physical trainers.

There are several changes in the composition of the 2022 national training coaches. Hendry Saputra Ho and Chafidz Yusuf are certain to no longer join. Meanwhile Richard Mainaky and Ricky Susiono withdrew due to personal reasons.
