JAKARTA - The proposal for discretion or relaxation of quarantine for sports players from abroad does not only apply to multi-branch events. The proposal includes the 2022 MotoGP in March.

The General Chairperson of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) said that quarantine discretion was important for athletes who came to Indonesia. This policy is necessary because limited access to training during a long quarantine will affect the athlete's stamina and performance.

The discretion in question is in the form of the authority to undergo quarantine with different policies. One of them is the bubble system, such as the badminton event in the series of Indonesia Badminton Festival in Bali last November-December.

"The policy can be used evenly because this bubble system is the most ideal because there are already references," Oktohari said as quoted by Antara.

The quarantine discretionary proposal was submitted by KOI to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) on 12 January. The letter numbered 1.12.3/NOC-INA/PRE/2022 was immediately signed by the General Chair of KOI.

Regarding the letter, it is about biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia at the implementation of international sporting events in Indonesia and the participation of Indonesian athletes in every international sporting event.

"In March, not only MotoGP, but also the Davis Cup. Later there will also be the Long Cliff World Cup and esports," said Okto.

MotoGP Indonesia this season will be the second race title after the Qatar series. The schedule starts on March 18 and ends on March 20 next.

Apart from MotoGP, Davis Cup, and the Rock Climbing World Cup, there are also badminton tournaments that have been included in the BWF calendar, such as the Indonesia Masters and the Indonesia Open.

In addition to the single event, Indonesia plans to participate in five multi-pronged agendas, including the Hanoi SEA Games (12-23 May), Children of Asia (27 July-8 August), Islamic Solidarity Games Konya (9-18 August), Hangzhou Asian Games (10-25 September), and the Shantou Asian Youth Games (20-28 December).

There are also plans for Indonesia to host the 2022 ASEAN Para Games and the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games.
