JAKARTA – Preparations for the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP continue to be carried out. Nine main problems continue to be worked on so that the implementation of this event goes well.

Field Commander of the Mandalika 2022 MotoGP Preparation Hadi Tjahjanto on Wednesday, January 12 yesterday said that the nine main problems that were addressed were the results of an evaluation of the World Super Bike (WSBK) implementation last year.

"Learn from the event at WSBK. Based on the evaluation in the field, we found nine main problems that must be worked out so that later this MotoGP event can run according to all of us", Hadi said in a statement received by VOI, Thursday.

One of the focuses of improvements made is the race circuit area. Improvements in this area will take place in three tiers, starting with tier 1 in the paddock area, then tier 2 on the circuit, and finally tier 3 in the audience area.

Improvements to supporting facilities outside the circuit will also be carried out. One of them is the road that starts from the airport at the Bypass all the way to Mandalika and continues to the access that is in front of the circuit.

Another focus of work is to make improvements by opening five entrances to anticipate traffic jams.

The access consists of the port gate on Gili Mas, the port gate in Lembar, the Bangsal port door, the Kayangan port which is specifically for immigrants from Sumbawa, and the gate at Lombok Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport.

"So there are four entrances (from) the port and one (from) the airport", said Hadi.

Spectators who come through the five entrances will be parsed by using a shuttle bus. In addition, they must also have proof that they have received two doses of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, spectators who have no PCR or antigen will be provided on the spot.

Qatar will be the first series of MotoGP events this season in the interim calendar of the race schedule that has been released. The schedule for the first series will take place on March 8 following the second series in Indonesia which will be held on March 20.
