Indonesia Vs Singapore Leg 2 AFF Cup, Shin Tae-yong: Watch Out For 4 Opposing Players, One Of Them Is Ikhsan Fandi

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will continue their struggle in the second leg of the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals against Singapore today, Saturday, December 25 at 19.30 p.m. Indonesian Western Time (WIB). Ahead of this match, Shin Tae-yong has already pocketed four opposing players that Evan Dimas et al. have to watch out for.

The names of the four Singaporean players were revealed by Shin Tae-yong during an online press conference before the match. They are Ikhsan Fandi, Song Ui-Young, Safuwan Baharudin, and Irfan Fandi.

"We have to arrest player number 9 (Ikhsan Fandi) and also number 15 (Song Ui-Young). There are also two stoppers number 21 (Safuwan Baharudin) and 17 (Irfan Fandi)," said the coach on Friday, December 24.

On the same occasion, Shin Tae-yong also said that Singapore's strength when appearing in the first leg had increased significantly. So that the foster children must be more vigilant in order to maintain the defense.

"In my opinion, the Singaporean players had a better performance in the semifinals of the first leg compared to the group stage. So we have to be careful and defend well," said Shin Tae-yong.

Shin Tae-yong's wariness of the four Singaporean players is quite reasonable. Because, Ikhsan Fandi is the goal scorer who successfully thwarted the victory of the Indonesian national team in the first leg on Wednesday, December 22.

Meanwhile, Song Ui-young, is a naturalized Singaporean midfielder who often troubles the opponent's defense line. The South Korean player has recorded four appearances and contributed one assist in the 2020 AFF Cup.

As for Safuwan and Irfan, the Singapore national team's central defender duo are quite tough. Coach Tatsuma Yoshida has always trusted the second position to appear for 90 minutes in the Lions' five matches, including when they were able to hold Indonesia to a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Even so, Shin Tae-yong was not afraid of the presence of the Singaporean players, because he had a great determination to encourage his team to perform optimally and full of enthusiasm to be able to explore the final match.
