Facing Cambodia, Shin Tae-yong Is Optimistic That Indonesia Will Win

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will start the inaugural match of the 2020 AFF Cup Group B phase against Cambodia. Ahead of the match which will take place on December 9 tomorrow, Shin Tae-yong is optimistic that his team can win.

The confidence shown by the national team coach is not without reason. He had watched Cambodia's game against Malaysia in the previous match.

Shin Tae-yong does recognize the strength of Cambodia, but he believes more in the abilities of his foster children and is ready to appear aggressive.

"So, we will play with more aggressive pressure and have the ball as much as possible compared to the opponent. Many think Cambodia is good, so we will prepare well, play harder to win", said Shin Tae-yong during a virtual press conference attended by VOI on Wednesday, December 8.

Furthermore, Shin Tae-yong, who is in high optimism, also believes that his team can escape from the Group B phase, which is called the hell group. The confidence is because so far the national team has made careful and periodic preparations.

"I think in football anything can happen. In essence, we will prepare well for all matches, be it against Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Malaysia. So, we will be able to qualify for the semifinals. I'm very confident", Shin Tae-yong added.

In this session, Shin Tae-yong also gave his opinion about the Indonesian national team which is doubtful to be the champion. But the South Korean coach doesn't care because in his eyes the Indonesian national team keeps changing for the better.

“Indeed, many think Vietnam and Malaysia will qualify. But, as discussed earlier, the ball is round. If a lot of people think like that, it can't be helped. In essence, Indonesia has changed a lot and there are developments", said the coach.
