Disappointed That Persib Failed To Climb To The Top Of The League 1 Standings, Coach Alberts: This Was Not Our Intention

JAKARTA - Persib Bandung coach Robert Alberts admitted that he was disappointed that his team failed to climb to the top of the Liga 1 standings after being defeated by Arema FC in week 14 at the Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Sunday night.

"Disappointed. Very disappointed, because for the second time this season we failed to top the league standings," said Robert Alberts in a virtual press conference session after the match, quoted from Antara, Monday.

Robert Alberts continued to say, in tonight's match Persib Bandung failed to show character and intensity in the match against Arema FC, especially in the first half.

"This was not our intention, our intention was that from the start it should have shown how serious we are to be at the top of the table and there is something we have to pay attention to next as a team and we have to change that in the next game."

The Dutch coach continued to say that the loss of four main players also affected Persib Bandung's appearance in the match against Arema FC.

Even so, he is reluctant to use this as an excuse and wants all players who get the opportunity to play to show their intention to sit at the top of the standings.

"Of course, it's a big impact on every team because you lose four regular players and especially the defense and midfield, but you are forced to make substitutions.

"In the end, it doesn't matter who plays, the most important thing is that the players have the desire to reach the top of the league," said Robert.

Persib Bandung had to be willing to lose three points after being defeated by Arema FC with a score of 0-1 through a goal scored by Dendi Santoso in the 14th week of Liga 1 2021/2022.

As a result, Persib Bandung had to be willing to go down to third place in the League 1 standings with 28 points from 14 matches, while Arema FC rose to second place with 29 points.
