Stunning, ONE Championship Fighter Jarred Brooks Beats Rank 5 Strawweight

JAKARTA - Jarred Brooks, the new ONE Championship fighter, surprisingly defeated 5th strawweight Lito Adiwang via an arm triangle submission after controlling the fight from start to finish in his first bout.

The match, titled ONE: NEXTGEN III, based on official data released by Antara, Saturday, was broadcast from the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Singapore, Friday night along with five other matches, both free combat (MMA) and Muay Thai.

As a debutant, Brooks who appeared in the main match took the initiative to do a takedown when the fight started and brought the action to the mat on two legs. With his back on the canvas, Adiwang tried his best to defend against pressure from America's top fighter as Brooks advanced his position.

In the second round, Brooks landed two more takedowns, including a hard hit, before quickly switching to a choke that ended the fight. With his arm trapped and nowhere to go, Adiwang has no choice but to give up.

In the main support bout, former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing world champion Alaverdi Ramazanov returned to Muay Thai and did a quick job of Pongsiri PK Saenchai Muaythaigym, landing a beautiful shot towards the end of the first round to score the KO victory.

Ramazanov took advantage of his range advantage early, keeping Pongsiri at the end of his attack range. When the Thai fighter tried to close the gap, Ramazanov caught him with his right hand and ended the fight instantly.

Former ONE Strawweight World Champion and current #4 strawweight challenger Alex Silva defeated veteran Rene Catalan via armbar in the first round of their highly anticipated rematch. Silva brought the Catalans down to the mat after the Filipino star failed with a combination of attacks. Once on the ground, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt cleverly got into the perfect position to secure the fight-ending submission.
