Marc Klok's Hopes Of Defending The Indonesian National Team Are Constrained By Heredity Documents

JAKARTA - The hope of the Dutch-blooded naturalized player, Marc Klok, to join the Indonesian national team must be postponed. Klok still has to prove to the International Football Federation (FIFA) his ancestry documents.

Klok has actually obtained the status of an Indonesian citizen (WNI), but that is still not enough to make him able to defend the Garuda team. FIFA still has not lowered the permit because there are still incomplete documents.

This was confirmed by PSSI's Technical Director, Indra Sjafri, who also said that Klok's case was similar to that of Ezra Walian.

"So Marc Klok still can't change associations, (the case) is like Ezra Walian", said Indra in the information received by VOI, Monday, November 8.

Indra said that Klok could not show documents that explained that he was of Indonesian descent. In fact, Klok himself said he had Indonesian blood from his great-grandfather, Jan Ernst Karel, who came from Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"Klok can't change associations. Because according to Klok, he can't show the descendant document. FIFA asked for the descendant document. We can't prove it, he can't prove there is that document", explained Indra.

Although there are still problems with the documents requested by FIFA, Indra explained that there are other ways for Klok to be able to defend the Red and White team.

"Finally using FIFA 2 points, he (Marc Klok) has to wait 5 years to live here. If he waits 5 years, so far he has lived four years, yes, in about 7 months he can only do it, "he continued.

Apart from this problem, Klok has actually fulfilled the call of the national team coach, Shin Tae-yong to join the training camp (TC). However, due to document constraints, Shin Tae-yong finally did not include Klok in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers which took place last June 2021.
