JAKARTA PT Sokoindo Automobile, as the official agents of the DFSK and Seres brands, continues to expand their electric car portfolios in Indonesia. After showing off two mainstay models, Seres 7 and Seres 9, at the GIIAS 2024 event, Sokoindo is now planning to produce the two models locally.
Although it has not announced for sure when Seres 7 and Seres 9 will be available in the market, the company has ambitions to assemble this electric car in Indonesia. This was revealed by Doni Putra Okten, Head of Marketing & Sales of PT Sokoindo Automobile. He explained that his party plans to implement a Completely Knock Down (CKD) system at their factory located in Cikande, Serang, Banten.
"We plan to conduct CKD for Seres 7 and Seres 9 at the Cikande factory," Doni said in a recent interview in Jakarta.
Furthermore, Doni explained that the production capacity in the factory is still quite large, and the technology used is fully automated with an internet-based robotic system.
"Our factory is already using robotic technology. The assembly process can be adjusted easily just by replacing the existing modules," he added.
Currently, the factory in Cikande is already the production base for Seres E1, a compact electric car designed for urban needs. In addition, this factory also produces a Gejora E DFSK minibus, which is also an electric vehicle.

Waiting For Headquarter Approval
The confirmation of the launch of Seres 7 and Seres 9 still depends on the decision of the head office. The reason is, these two models do not yet have the right steering variant needed for the Indonesian market. Doni explained that several right-handed steering markets, such as Hong Kong, have only presented Seres E1 and Seres 3 models, while Seres 7 and Seres 9 are still waiting for stronger demand.
"We are still waiting for demand from the right steering market, because currently only Seres E1 and Seres 3 are already in the market," Doni explained.
Sokoindo's party seems ready to move quickly if demand and approval from the head office have been received, promising the presence of more Seres electric cars in Indonesia.
