Jeep Fighter Compact SUV Only Wins Three Stars In NCAP Euro Collision Test, What's Wrong?

JAKARTA - One of Jeep's vehicle lines, Avengers has just received disappointing results about the three-star safety rating of the Euro New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) safety organization.

Reporting from Autocar, Thursday, September 12, the crossover received a bad score in the side impact protection category for 10-year-old rear passengers and an automatic emergency braking (AEB) system.

However, this compact SUV gets a good assessment in protection for adult and child passengers as a whole by providing 79 percent and 70 percent in each category.

According to NCAP Secretary General Michiel van Ratingen, this result shows the lack of commitment of the parent company from Jeep, Stellantis, in protecting vehicle users.

The competition in the car industry is increasing and Stellantis has to take several steps to secure the future of its brand. But safety shouldn't be the reason car manufacturers are saving," van Ratingen said.

Then, Stellantis responded that his party still offers full dedication to safety and security so that it always offers superior products.

"As part of efforts to improve our sustainable product, we are considering a new third-party assessment and integrating proven technological solutions into our engineering process if relevant," Stellantis wrote.

However, the company considers that an independent assessment such as the Euro NCAP is very important in providing input so that the next model has added value in terms of safety.

"Stellantis believes there is no single way to measure vehicle safety; third-party assessment is one of the many inputs used when designing the safety of our vehicles," concluded Stellantis.

In recent tests, the Euro NCAP assessed four stars on a number of models such as Renault Captur and Renault Symbioz and five stars on the Audi Q6 e-tron vehicles, Ford Explorer, Subaru Crosstrek, Subaru Impreza, and Xpeng G6.
