Daimler Strengthens Various Safety Features On Buses, Can Prevent Accidents

JAKARTA - Bus accidents in Indonesia are relatively high, and are caused by many factors, both in terms of drivers who do not comply with regulations or conditions, making buses unable to be properly controlled.

According to M. Thoyib as the Bodybuilder Advisor's Bus Daimler Commercial Vehicle Indonesia (DVCI), the human error factor is still the biggest cause of the accident. In response, DVCI developed many safety features on the latest Mercedes-Benz trucks and buses, which can help drivers avoid accidents.

The feature, namely the New Fleetboard, is a remote vehicle monitoring system and a fleet management system for trucks and Mercedes-Benz buses.

"This system can be integrated with various devices connected to the internet, and can access accurate and comprehensive monitoring data and Artificial Intelligent (AI) data," he said, in a discussion on Road to Transformation at Giicomvec 2024, Friday night, March 8.

Meanwhile, the latest Mercedes-Benz vehicle chassis is also embedded with various features that do have an active nature. This means that the embedded features can be automatically corrected by the vehicle.

"If the driver does not follow the normal lane or normal process, the vehicle itself will investigate it," he added.

Features installed on Daimler buses are like the Advanced Driver Assistance System, which is embedded in modern passenger cars which can help drivers in many ways.

"Why do we embed this feature because we see that Indonesia already needs this, and can reduce the accident rate. This is also one of the importance of us bringing in products or features that are one step ahead," he concluded.
