Despite facing challenges in the global supply chain, Mercedes-Benz' focus on luxury cars and commercial vehicles, especially vans, brought success with a growth of 1.5 percent from the previous year's period.

Ola Kallenius, Chairman of the Board of Management Mercedes-Benz Group AG, said that luxury vehicles from their manufacturer are in great demand, and it has ambitions to introduce more new models in 2024.

"The 2023 sale shows the best performance of premium vehicles (Top-End Vehicles), including Mercedes-Maybach, G-Class, and Mercedes-AMG. Sales of electric vehicles continue to increase, especially the new E-Class. Mercedes-Benz Vans also recorded the highest sales so far. This year, our product momentum can be maintained, thanks mainly thanks to G-Class electricity, Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé, and a new eSprinter," said Kllenius on the company's official website, Friday, January 12.

Specifically for total sales 2,043,800 units of the premium Mercedes-Benz brand, which rose including Maybach (up 19 percent), G-Class (up 11 percent), and AMG (up 4 percent).

But specifically in the 4th quarter of 2023 with limited product availability, the premium brand Mercedes-Benz also managed to sell 514,000 units of vehicles even though it fell 4 percent from the same period in the previous year.

Mercedes-Maybach sales jumped 19 percent, driven by GLS and S-Class models, while brand AMG recorded a 4 percent increase, including a significant 76 percent increase in high-performance electric vehicle (EV) models.

The flagship vehicle, G-Class, shows a positive trend with growth of 11 percent during 2023, and an electric version will be introduced this year. S-Class managed to maintain its market share of up to 50 percent across major areas.

The passenger Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) segment also contributed positively with sales of 240,600 units throughout 2023, an increase of 24 percent in the fourth quarter of last year of 66,300 units.

In the Mercedes-Benz Vans sector, sales were recorded at 447,800 units during 2023, up 1 percent, with the spotlight on sales of medium-sized vans (60,000 units), small vans (7,400 units), and large vans (237,400 units).

Looking at 2024, especially with the launch of the new mid-sized van market and new eSprinters, we are targeting another successful year for the van division, concluded Klaus Rekugler, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Sales & Marketing.
