TAM Prepares Automotive Workers Through This Way

PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) continues to strengthen its commitment to implementing the Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) and Sub T-TEP at Vocational High School (SMK) in collaboration with Toyota.

The main focus of increasing learning activities is so that these vocational vocational graduates can meet Toyota's technical quality standards, are ready to enter the field, and have skills, competence, and work professionalism that suits Toyota's official workshop needs.

As a pilot project, PT TAM introduced SMK 26 in the Rawamangun area, Jakarta, as the first T-TEP SMK to increase, as well as an example of the implementation of New T-TEP.

"This program is expected to be able to produce prospective technicians who graduated from vocational schools who are qualified, have skills, competence, and appropriate work professionalism attitudes, so that they can meet the needs of the automotive industry, especially Toyota's official workshops spread across various regions in Indonesia," said Henry Tanoto, Vice President Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), in an official statement received by VOI, Thursday, November 30.

T-TEP itself is Toyota's global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program which has been running since 1990, becoming an important foundation in the development of human resources in Toyota operations around the world. In Indonesia, Toyota runs T-TEP and Sub T-TEP together with Toyota's official dealer network and the Ministry of National Education since 1991.

In the development of T-TEP and Sub T-TEP, the main focus is on New Technology and Services considering the continued development of Toyota vehicle technology, including environmentally friendly electrified vehicles (xEVs). In addition, the service form also continues to grow, such as Express Body & Paint services for light body repairs with a maximum work time of 8 hours.

"We are synchronizing the curriculum with the needs of the automotive industry, improving learning facilities according to technological developments, training teachers for better understanding learning materials, opening up internship opportunities at Toyota's official workshop to expand knowledge and insight of teachers, and trying to absorb the workforce of T-TEP Vocational High School graduates," explained Nini Tjandrasa, Finance Administration & Logistics Support Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM).

With the New T-TEP program, Toyota increases learning activities at SMK T-TEP through three stages: Improve Fundamental, Improve Learning Process, and Improve Contribution. Several new Silabuses were introduced to support the increase in the activities of the PT TAM fostered vocational school, as has been implemented in the New T-TEP Body & Paint program at SMK Negeri 26 Jakarta. Other SMKs that will implement the New T-TEP General Repair program will be officially introduced at SMK Negeri 2 Surabaya in December 2023.

"The implementation of the broad T-TEP program reflects Toyota's support for the world of education in Indonesia. Through the increasing activity of the New T-TEP program, apart from creating skilled workers who are ready to use, this activity is also a form of our support for the world of education in the country," concluded Nini Tjandrasa.
