Mercedes-AMG Intends To Restore V8 Machines For C-Class And E-Class For 2026 Models

JAKARTA - Following in the footsteps of parent company Mercedes-Benz AG towards electrification has made its top performance division, AMG, starting to reduce the number of models powered by the legendary twin-turbo V8 engine.

For this reason, AMG only presents its flagship sedan models, E-Class and C-Class with smaller machines. This change makes AMG lovers feel disappointed. However, the disappointment of these fans seems to be treated with these rumors.

It was reported by Carscoops, Tuesday, August 7, that Mercedes-AMG will bring back V8 engines in both C-Class and E-Class models in the form of PHEV. The return of the V8 engine model is the fastest in 2026.

The model currently available, such as AMG C63 S E comes with a smaller engine with a capacity of 2.0 liters of turbocharged 4-cylinder cap accompanied by an electric motor on the back, so that it can generate up to 671 dk of power.

The engine installment configuration is also carried out on the E-Class which comes with a PHEV linear 6-cylinder runway. Although the engine presented is smaller, its actual performance is much higher than the V8 powered engine.

However, the return of the M177 4.0 liter V8 engine needs further adjustment in order to meet the current Euro 7 emission standard which is much tighter than the previous regulations.

In addition to the engine sector, C-Class and E-Class are currently also being worked on with several small changes to the body and others according to the V8 engine combined with PHEV technology.

The PHEV powertrain has actually been used in one of the four-door coupe models, the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S, which offers up to 831 dk of runway and the S63 sedan with 791 dk.

Well, the powertrain technology will also be presented in all ranks of Aston Martin PHEV. For the record, Mercedes-Benz has been a supplier of machinery and infotainment for the British manufacturer since 2016.
