Hyundai Motor Group and Kia will soon present one of their most advanced technologies. They have just filed an innovation patent that allows cleaning the outside of the vehicle, including LiDAR technology. In addition, they are also developing innovations in the use of rainwater.

Hyundai will apply for a compressor cooling system that can clean LiDAR sensors and operate them using rainwater collected on the car through a rain sensor that drives the wiper when it rains.
This technology will involve a rainwater collection unit that will flow down the front window, a rainwater filling site, and air compressor cooler. Interestingly, this technology does not require a separate cooling tank because rainwater will naturally cool the air compressor. By utilizing rainwater, this cleaning device will emit a burst of water or air to clean the sensor.
The rainwater collection unit will be installed under the cover where the wiper is located, with a fairly small and low design so as not to block the driver's view.
Hyundai is also considering the time to clear the sensor to match and not cause unwanted events, such as cleaning the lens while the car is receding which can disrupt backward visibility.
Hyundai's main goal in patenting this technology is to keep the LiDAR feature clean, functioning properly, and can be used anywhere and anytime.
Although still in its early stages, Hyundai has used this LiDAR technology in several vehicles to help drivers. The manufacturer under its auspices, such as Genesis, plans to launch the LiDAR feature on their latest model, the G90.
